What now?

First off, biggg sigh of relief everyone. We all now know what's going down next year (except for our WLers, good luck to you!!!)

But, now that we've accepted, what happens in the coming months until September? Placement tests, teacher recommendations, room mate forms, etc? What all should we expect and when?

Also, a Middlesex-specific question (I know we have some students and parents who currently go there/have children there). I think someone said that, along with placement tests, schools ask for recommendations from your current teachers. Do they do this, and if so when? I get out of school a lot earlier than most and wouldn't want to bother the teachers during finals/AP testing either, so I'm wondering if I need to attempt to get the forms earlier. Thanks!

I know for some schools, they send a confirmation letter for the upcoming attenders so you should be on watch for one of those.w

Thanks! Anything else?

Can't speak for you students. But for we parents, we start auctioning off body parts on eBay to pay tuition. Search for "left nut" and bid high.

Haha, that was hilarious laxtaxi. search for left nut :) for tuition pay

fun is fun gets the joke. He just auctioned of a kidney to pay for one semester...

I do not have Middlesex information but I can give you an idea what happened for my rising 3rd former last year. We signed up and sent off deposit. Toward the beginning or middle of May, D received placement tests for languages (she took two languages). Her math teacher had to fill out a form and send it directly to school saying that teacher's recommendation for math placement. D got a form sometime in spring that asked her to describe her qualities so they could match her well with a roommate - early bird or night owl? slob or neatnik? etc.

Parents are during this time (late spring) receiving forms that are due in stages -- health forms, arranging for you to get your physical by your doctor, health insurance forms, etc. Some of it is due as early as June; other bits not until August. Lots of stuff comes in the mail - laundry service signups, newspapers from school, etc etc. As soon as you send that deposit and sign the contract, you are on the school's mailing list and so you receive magazines that the school publishes etc.

While there were forms to fill out, nothing was overwhelming, and you have plenty of time to get the forms in.

I would suggest to your parents to make reservations now at the hotel they want to stay in when they bring you up to school in September. It's one of those things that you can forget to do until the time approaches, and all of a sudden when you think about it, rooms are already booked at the hotel you wanted.

Other things that happen now: getting ready for the dorm room. That was a big preoccupation last summer!

haha laxtaxi. I'll be sure to bid!

Thank you so much MomtoanUndecided. My problem is that I don't want to get too much for my dorm in case i get a roommate (I may get a single, since I'm a junior. Lucky me!) I suppose they wouldn't mind too much though, if I got a bedspread/trash can! For rugs and such I guess I should wait. I'll need posters, too!

I just got my confirmation info from Episcopal, there is a letter, a survey, receipt. They say that they will send the students summer reading stuff, and health thingys by the end of the month.

thanks!

what's the survey for?

I think its purpose is to compare the school to another bs. It asks questions that compare the school to another one that I applied to and to get statistics on this year's admissions. Also, they ask you about the advantage Episcopal and why you chose their school. It's no big deal, takes like 2 minutes.

risingjunior,
My son's school sent a packet in May after he was accepted. It included a curriculum guide and course signup sheet, eval. forms to give to current science, math, and language teachers as well as a self-eval for the student and parent to fill out. It think there was also a form to sign up for musical instrument lessons, information about musical groups and joining/auditions, a form to fill out to order the school newsletter, a roommate compatibility form, information sheets about telephone service, ordering of birthday cakes for your student, and various other information sheets.

Oh wow, thanks keylyme. Ahh that's all so exciting. I can't wait! Why is it only April 12th? :D

EEKKKKK!! I'm so exited! Yay :)

i know!
isnt is weird looking forward to going back to school and we havent even finished this year yet...lol
where are you going jazlyntrue?

Haha I know, I have definitely NEVER looked so forward to school. And I feel like I have an infinitely long summer because it's about 3 weeks longer thanks to the school switch.

I'm going to NMH
