<p>I dual-boot Vista and Ubuntu Linux, but will probably be removing Vista soon.</p>
<p>most commonly microsoft office I think that's what the school's servers run on as well. many also have macs and there are other ways to run linux just fine.</p>

<p>It doesn't matter what you run as long as you can deal with the reqs for your courses. The de facto standard for writing is Word, but as you must know there are many ways to generate or read a Word compatible document. Y</p>

<p>BTW, the most common OS's are OS X and XP, with the latter being replaced as new kids enter with new computers.</p>
