Say i want to be a banker when i grow up, what other majors beside Economy and Business can i choose?

What kind of banker? Investment? Real Estate? Something else?

Economics is the name of the major.

i’m not sure, like someone who works ar Citi or AIG

Maybe you should learn a little bit about what you want to do for the rest of your life before you commit to something.

Just looking to get your hands on taxpayer money by being incompetent? Or is there some other reason why you want to work at a company like that but somehow don’t know what you want to do there?

chill guys, i still contemplating which field to go into (Finance, Insurance, Risk Analysis, Real Estate) I just want to know if there’s any other major that allows me to get a job in those fields other than Economy and Business.

Well, real estate, accounting, entrepreneurship, math, statistics, actuarial science, logistics management, and risk management are some that might work.

Here are a few possibilities:

applied math
financial analysis
risk management

^ i didn’t know universities offer those majors? financial analysis and risk management? really?

I’ve heard of finance as a majory but never risk management.

finance accounting management marketing economics math

those are the main ones that will get you into business. after that, it’s mostly what you do with them. (for example, you can major in marketing but end up in management or finance, etc…)

Again, the word is economics. lol.

^chill Korg, i’m just exploring my options.

Actually just about any major will get you there. What’s important is what you learn and the kinds of experiences you have in undergrad to prepare you for it. I have colleagues from undergrad working in securities, management consulting, and finance who majored in economics (duh) but also history, philosophy, psychology, and English. They generally took classes in econ or minored in management & organization (we didn’t have a business major at my LAC), and some of them did summer internships with the same companies to learn the ropes and build major cred.

Math, statistics, actuarial science, finance and accounting are especially good alternatives to business or economics. You might also major in a modern foreign language and minor in one of those things. Some schools also have majors in management, marketing, and risk management/insurance. Another potential way to go is some kind of policy studies.
