For those choosing Wellesley, what other schools were you accepted into, and why choose Wellesley?

i was accepted into Wellesley, Smith, Tufts U, and Wesleyan....but i'm not sure where i want to go...what are your honest opinions about each one?

I don't know anything about your schools, other than Wellesley, but congratulations on your acceptances!

Try to visit the different schools and see which fits the best. I'm sure you've heard this before so I'm sorry that I can't really help you with making a decision. Good luck though and keep us posted!

I was admitted to Wellesley, Smith (STRIDE), Tufts U, Weseyan, and Brandeis...sound familiar?
My first choice is wellesley, unless when I visit for the spring open campus I find something terribly wrong with it. If that should happen, I will go visit Wesleyan.
Congrats!!!

I just realized I didn't actually say anything about each college...I just got so excited that we got into essentially the exact smae list of schools and posted before reading all of your question. Anyway, your decision should have alot to do with your academic area of interest. So, post with that, and then I can give you my input.

I have been accepted to Wellesley, Brandeis, Boston University, George Washington University, and Harvard University. I'm still waiting on the University of Chicago. It has always been my dream to go to Harvard, and I will probably end up there, although Wellesley has certainly made it a harder choice than I ever thought possible.

I'm in at Wellesley, Brown, Bryn Mawr, Bowdoin, Wesleyan, Trinity, and Mount Holyoke...and it was basically a tough decision between Wellesley and Brown...but I think I'm going to go to Brown. Maybe.

Got into Wellesley, Amherst, Swarthmore, and Binghamton. Amherst's full ride deal is looking sweeeeet. I'm visiting all though, and I won't send in my deposit until the last second.

Congrats on all those collegese too. Yea...i've been reviewing each one's financial aide, and Wesleyan gave me the LEAST and a LOT of LOANS...hmm... i want to major in neuro/behavioral science, not too definite....where are you from? n what's your stat? i'm leaning to Wellesley more n more everyday.

wow. my schools pale in comparison to those posted above :(

i was accepted to wellesley, ucla(honors), berkeley(alumnni scholarship semifinalist), syracuse (newhouse, renee honors, chancellor's scholar), and boston college.

well i was admited at some like smith but i dont think im going there, so heres the top 3

wellesley, umich lsa honors, nyu stern

im from michigan so umich sounds unappealing to me as i hate michigan weather, but my parents are pretty insistant so im trying to convince them i wann go to wellesley but they are convincing me to stay in the process.

i am still crying over harvard :( there goes my 4 years of dreams

Oh, don't cry over Harvard. They reject most people. and it's not saying you're inferior in any way. Harvard students aren't necessarily the happiest, and it's not for everyone. I'm actually kind of glad I wasn't accepted. I think the LACs are a much better match for my personality.

Meanwhile, I have no idea where I'm going to be next year. My parents strongly prefer Amherst, but I didn't like it all that much when I overnighted. I prefer Swarthmore, but my parents and teachers apparently think it's a lesser school.

according to u.s. news amherst and swarthmore both share position #2 on best LAC. wellesley comes in right after them at #4 ha i think mainly cuz its a girlschool. so i think its up to u where u want to go, and the "lesser" than is superficial.

my dad thinks wellesley is a "lesser than" school compared to umich, and nyu is "lesser than" umich but "greater than" wellesley. i think he doesnt know what h'es talking about. any suggestions/ ?

haha lets make sure we dont date the same guy... oh and
it should be THEM the GUYS that comes over, not us. i dont wanna take a 40min bus ride to see them everytime. haha wellesley is "traditonal" rite? so stay that way and males court females. i heard boston schools love to date wellesley girls

maybe i should go shopping. i wonder what kind of clothe eastcoast people wear normally ha. new look for college? most my closet is abercrombie, aeropostale t-shirt tank top jeans kinda stuff. i imagine wellesley wont have a mall, so ill have to buy some basics now, and leave the rest to finding them in boston. plus ill probably be 2 busy to get a new hat or new belt or etc that i might want or need, or shop every weekend let along look for deals. i heard wellesley people are super rich, little girls walking down the street with coach bags, so i dont wanna kill my wallet with a skirt if i can buy it here in MI for less. wat kind of stuff will u guys or should i stack up on?

sweatshirt tees probably for the weekdays, but ill need something nice for the weekend if i plan on dating harvard boys, rite? haha

swtdreams, I want to clunk both your Dad and you with a blunt object, for different reasons. Him because he's obviously discounting LAC's as lesser. He should look at the acceptance rate for LAC students into graduate and professional schools. He should look at the quality of undergrad education available at LAC's, as opposed to the "name," he should note that many Ivy League profs send their sons & daughters to LAC's instead of universities. In short, he's prejudiced out of ignorance.

You, on the other hand, perpetuate the notion of US News rankings as being much more meaningful than they are...I would hope that Wellesley girls are, in general, smarter than that.

Haha, swtswtdreams. That's the fun part about being a girl... being able to go on and on about clothes and shopping!

Anyways, I've noticed that the East Coast style is different from the
West Coast style that I am used to. I'm sure that this is mostly based on personal style and well, the weather, but I don't really want to lose touch of my style now you know? I've been told that people in New England bust out in shorts and flip flops when it gets to be 45 degrees (thanks elizabeth22!), which completely trips me out. :-)

Anyways, I'm interested to hear about what it is hot over there in Boston and where the hot spots are at for shopping. Oh, and if you guys are coming from out of state, do you think you'll do most of your dorm shopping in Boston/Wellesley or will you bring most of your stuff from home? Man, with all of the admissions anxiety, I'm excited to finally talk about something less stressful such as prepping for dorm rooms!

to TheDad: i did mention that the "lesser than" thing was superficial! haha

anyhow, im already overwhelmed, okay not overwhelmed, but starting to think about stuff to buy... what kind of bed sheets, how big the beds they have in the dorms (probably queen), wonder if my roommate will bring a tv or i should bring mine or if there is one in the room or we should just not get one at all since if there is a "common' place we should just go watch tv over there so as to not distract from studies but then maybe you want to see something nobody else wants to see and theres a fight over the tv in the commons... summer books to find for prep reading just to get my head cleared..

hmm i lived in boston for about a year but i was only 10 back then so i dont know much... but i bet it'll have lots of malls and variety and choices since its a big city, the main problem is carrying everythign! i will need lots of prepartion time and get everything or else im gonna end up carrying them like 50 miles on a bus... i had a flash of me sitting on the bus with a 24pack of aquafresh and i look like this dork lugging it back to my dorm haha so maybe i should train myself to drink fountain water or something

ill probably end up taking a plane, so there's not much you can carry, so i'll find the basics and essentials and that'll probably be overweight since that happens to me all the time on a plane like when i went to china and i thought everything was "important" including all my cds, a decorative umbrella that weighs 10lbs... haha and then buy the rest of the stuff that i miss or forget in boston, but first week of school will be overwhelming and exciting and i cant wait to meet guys from surrounding schools that i wont be able to see for the week but will think of.. "distance makes the heart grow fonder" right?

Haha, a queen bed. Dude, I have a queen-sized bed and I absolutely love it. I'm definitely going to miss it! But if Wellesley has queens that would be awesome.
