What other schools have you been accepted to? Your final decision?

okay maybe twin

swtswtdreams, I wouldn't stress too much about the TV..no cable in Wellesley dorms.

i found that out today too :( :( oh well. and we probably wont be able to download shows from the internet since that might be against "copy right laws"

There's a blockbuster though (wellesley girls make much use of it), so..Tv shows on dvd!

I think you all will be too busy at Wellesley to think about tv... ;)

Haha... grrreat.

about the guys coming onto Wellesley... when I visited I saw a herd of MIT boys. Like buffalo.

ahem. And there's also the infamous "Chocolate Factory" frat at MIT. Certain Wellesley girls seem to have those connects.

i wonder if MIT guys look like the guy that got accepted at my school... nice sweet guy doesnt like to socialize very helpful if you ask him a question lots of pimples notsopreppy clothe fuzzy hair doesnt look like he brush it a lot and last but not least GLASSES

maybe harvard guy will look good. ill remain hopeful until i see them

I'm sure even MIT will have some good looking guys. And I bet Harvard will have a bunch. Even if they don't, Boston has a ridiculous number of colleges, so we're sure to find some to our liking.

Hey allureNY86, what is the "Chocolate Factory" frat?

I don't know that much about Chocolate Factory, since I only heard this when I overnighted at Wellesley back in October. From what I do know, they're this frat in MIT. I think they're mostly African American. Apparently they have been sweet to certain Wellesley girls that were involved with them at some point (my memory here fails me) but not any longer. You'd do better to ask a current Wellesley student... I'm no authority on the subject. :)

Oh I'm sure theres guys everywhere you go. Population of Boston is pretty large. around 50% male. so no trouble there. plus I heard MIT girls are geeky and antisocial so thats a plus for us nonMIT people, right?

swtsdreams...I visited amherst and did not like it at all. I have a friend at swathmore who absolutely loves it and has been working in a lab there since freshman year. In terms of lesser/better school...Swathmore is tied with amherst for the number 2 slot of all LACS (williams is number 1), this comes form US news and world report...so you can look it up at http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/libartco/tier1/t1libartco_brief.php
show this to your profs and parents...if you didn't like the feel of amherst, you shouldnt spend the next four years of life there, especially not when you could be recieving the same quality of education, if not better, at swathmore

I agree with Roza_Soza about choosing about not spending four years at a place where you're not comfortable. However, relying on the US News ratings as if they are Holy Writ with respect to anything is a self-perpetuating laziness. Individual circumstances of "fit" are what's most important and there are many cases where the #32 school will be better for a student than the #2 school.

There happens to be a good article on US News rankings in today's LOS ANGELES TIMES...you can probably find it on-line.

i read an article somewhere on this website about those private expensive counsellors. the ones that get paid worth a year's tuition. ha their job is supposidly to find "the best fit" school for each individual student, not necessarily an ivy league, so definitely its not about going to a "ranked" really high school. to me that usnews ranking is just a convinient way to judge a school's sort of academic level. we all have to admit that harvard probably gives a decent education, better than let's say Oakland. a lot of the times tho, the "rank" is determined from the "yield", or how much people actually attend the school after getting accepted. like harvard, about 75% of the acceptees enroll, but a state "backup" school such as Michigan State University might have a 25% yield cuz people usually attend better schools unless they don't get into anywhere else. just because a "yield" is high doesnt necessarily mean a school is really good... if MSU only accepted those that had sort of low scores, and those people really didnt get accepted anywhere, then MSU might have an 80% yield.

the bottom line is, just be happy with where you are, and when it comes to it... its all about YOU, not the SCHOOL. no matter where you go, if you were meant to suceed, then you WILL. Rice didn't go to an Ivy, but look where she is now. Clinton went to Georgetown, and although I would say its a very very fine institution, a large amount of people will argue that HYPSM might be better.

"Clinton went to Georgetown"

Which Clinton is that?

Bill Clinton, I think, went to the University of Arkansas. Hilary Clinton went to Wellesley. And Chelsea Clinton went to Stanford.

Then again, Bill and Hilary met at Yale.

http://www.americanpresident.org/history/billclinton/

Clinton was born in Arkansas, but he went to Georgetown. Then he got a Rhodes scholar to Oxford. Then later went to Yale where he met Hilary

Chelsea clinton went to Stanford for undergrad, majoring in History. She then went to Oxford for international relations, but she was not a rhodes scholar. She makes a six figure salary right now

Cool, what does she do?

haha i dont really know... something to do with business i guess but i'm not sure
