This seems off topic in this forum, but i recalled going to UCSB open house that has a study abroad info session. I know theres EAP, but the speaker suggested to apply some other program b/c its offers more flexibility in your time scheldule than EAP. either i dont remember or that it doesnt exist when i googled it. I think i heard her said she went to the "emergen" program. Can anyone help whats this program called? I kinda came there late, so i wasnt able to jot down the program but i keep hearing her say emergen or something. Thanks

She was talking about the “immersion” program, which is still EAP. However, instead of taking UC Classes with other UC students in a UC environment (the UC Construct), you get to enroll in classes at a college in the country with actual native students. If the country you go to is a non-English speaking country, the classes are usually taught in that language in the immersion program, as opposed to the “UC Construct” where they just teach in English.

Both immersion and UC Construct are both EAP, but I dont think you have to use EAP to travel abroad. There are other programs you can use (none that I can think of off the top of my head…) but if you do EAP, it will probably be easier to get classes and units to transfer back over to UCSB.
