Going Abroad

Hello All,

So from what I've seen and gathered, the study abroad program at UCSD (along with opportunities abroad and things along those lines) is absolutely awesome.

Does anyone know if once the class ends we have to come back to the US with the group or can we stay in the foreign country for a while?

Thanks,

:)

Personal stories and comments about the program (specifically China- no I'm not chinese, it just sounds pretty cool- but in general too)

I would say for MOST programs, unless it is incredibly structured -you are definitely allowed to stay in the country and travel after your program ends. I did an EAP program (limited to UC students only) and it was awesome, we traveled freely during and after the program. I really liked EAP because a. there’s a huuuuge choice of countries b. the credits transfer over very easily, no hassle involved. You can also do an OAP program, which is not directly through the UC system. These involve a little more paperwork because you have to petition your courses, etc. and it takes awhile for the grades to come back.

anyway, definitely go abroad! It is one of the best college/life experiences for sure.

Thanks for the insightful comments.
That sounds fantastic! Can’t wait haha :)

Peace
