I have to say, some reading passages that are made by some authors who lived before 1900 would kill me.Their language to me is really illegible. They tend to be more literary, but I am really not literary type.....

MC writing, error identification. -.-

The essay. I’m a slow, abstract writer who would rather argue with theoretical examples–the opposite of what they’re looking for.

The last or the last two questions in the student-produced answer Math section; they take the longest out of the math questions and I don’t have the reassurance of five possible answer choices to back me up.

Awkwardly-worded ‘What’s Wrong With This Sentence’ writing questions where I identify something as wrong just because it’s not the way I’d personally word it…then it turns out that the answer is E: no error.

Long passages in Critical Reading that are just boring.

The breaks and rules. I would rather go through an intense, concentrated 2-to-3-hour block and be able to jump between sections without being interrupted.

So basically the whole thing

^ I love you

best said

passaged based reading and the essay, i hate the essay. I also propose that they make the whole test a pass or fail based on one question, so either 600 (since you receive a minimum of 200 on each section for atleast taking the test) or 2400. i’d like that

Critical reading excluding the sentence completions are the most detrimental to my score. My math and writing are usually 800.

Time, thats really the only problem for most people. I really think each section should be 30 mins and not 25 mins.

Essays, as the essays pretty much determine if I do good or bad on the test.

Also the extra diagnostic section.

Walt Whitman, Thoreau, etc.

I just wish CR was either shorter or easier :(

MORE specifically, what aspect of reading part bothers you?Vocabulary?Unwarranted and stupid question?Miscomprehension?

And for writing part, the only thing I can say is a matter of practice…exercising and exercising until you can spot the right one with barely finishing the whole sentences

Passage reading questions make me want to burn my books. The word “essay” looks like “essasy” which reminds me of “ecstasy” which I feel like I’m on before the essay section starts. The bad part, though, is that right after it starts, my ecstasy wears off and I have no idea what to write.

If you asked me this question a few days ago, this is what I’d say, “EVERY FRIGGIN’ SECTION, EVERY FRIGGIN QUESTION (Except the easy ones, and math ofc), is a BI*CH!, CR BEING THE BIGGEST ONE AT THAT.”

But since you posted this question NOW… The SAT is a beautiful test. I like to think of it as a healthy challenge, where all the answers are somewhere with Collegeboard, and I am given the task to find them. Every question is deeply interesting and mentally stimulating. The passages are very informative; some of them are actually intriguing.

I hope Noitaraprep’s advice on “positive approach” works.

Yes, the SAT is a game and it IS a healthy challenge. To be honest, I loved my past few months prepping for the SAT, but my nature makes me hate the SAT for all it’s worth. It’s a very unique experience in each student’s life to take such a challenge; its questions are indeed mentally stimulating and the skills one develops while preparing for the test are irreplacable. However, when I made this my main mindset, I ended up underestimating SAT questions and did poorly on practice tests. Now that I hate the SAT, I actually do better than I did before. My most recent writing MC was 49/49, a score I’ve never gotten during these 3 months. My CR was 700-740, not my best range but a very satisfying range in comparison to my abysmal scores in the past few weeks. Therefore, I’m inclined to continue hating the SAT unless I get a 2300+, in which case I’d lick CB’s shoes if I have to.

Whatever works for you! :)

@R3d3mpti0n Well, does the scores have to hit 2300+ to satisfy you?
I think for most colleges,a score around 2100+ is pretty omnipotent to apply

The TIME constraints!!! Actually, I realized the SAT is pretty easy if you have all the time on the world to answer the questions!! But answering the last 2 math questions of every section knowing that you have 1 min or less per problem is horrible!!! I also hate knowing that there is an experimental section… It’s a pain!!!

math, last time i took it the gap between math and my other score was 50 pts.

oh,girl, the essence of SAT is a matter of time man,oh,girl!
