What percent of deferred applicants are admitted??

MSC said they'd look into requesting that the system stay unchanged for this year. That doesn't mean they will actually ask. It also doesn't mean the courts would permit it.

As for the other points recently made, you're putting too much stock in the date thing.

First of all, some thinking is that if you applied before December 22nd, then your application would be considered/evaluated under the "old" system, even if the readers don't evaluate it until after then. In other word, the critical date might be when you apply, not when they get to it.

However, this may be a moot point when it comes to "chances". When you do the math you realize that affirmative action may give a boost to the chances of URM's admissability, but really makes very little affect on the chances of admission for non-URMs. So your chances, no matter when you apply, no matter what "system" is in effect, may not be terribly different if you are not a URM.

Mighty Nick is that so pathetic that Indian isn't an URM? Now you know how white people feel. Inidan is perfectly well-represented so quit belly aching because you didn't get in.

Yeah yeah i know its tough for you white people. But think about it...in the workplace, whites (and esp males) get first preference. Even though this practice is becoming less common, discrimination still exists. How many Indians/Chinese etc would you see in leadership positions at the top firms?

Besides, its tough being a minority in the US. People just look at you differently, or because you have a slightly different accent.

The University of Michigan does not publish all those cool statistics, and that REALLY bothers me. I want to know the acceptance rates of internationsl, OOS and IS students. I want to know the mean SAT/ACT scores of those students. I want to know the acceptance rates and SAT/ACT scores of URMs vs non-URMs. I want to know what percent of deferred students are eventually admitted. And I want to have this broken down by college. The University has this information...they just don't share it with us and being a public institution, I think they are obligated to do so.
