What percentage of UCSC students are from Bay Area?

I am wondering what percentage of UCSC students are from Bay Area?
I would guess 30-40% are from Bay Area, and go back home over weekends.

For 2018: 26.8% of enrolled Freshman were from the Bay area.

Could be

26.8%(San Francisco Bay Area) + 11.3%(Monterey Bay/Santa Clara Valley/Silicon Valley)

So almost 40% from in and around Bay Area!

The ones from SF or East Bay, say Oakland, Walnut Creek, San Ramon Valley, etc. may not go home on weekends frequently. It is a little over an hour drive with a lot of traffic and the winding mountain roads which make it a hassle to get to the destination. For the kids from the San Jose Area and since it is much closer, they may go home more frequently.

Though the roads are better, even kids from UCD, which is a little over 1 hour away from the SF Bay Area do not go home every weekend.

Agree with above. They do not go home. Is your concern lack of social life or things to do on campus on the weekends? This is not a concern I have heard from any student there and we know quite a few.

In some ways you may want one of your roommates to go home on the weekends. I hear the dorm situation at UCSC is overcrowded and awaiting the new dorm to be built in a few years.
