What percentage of your class is going to become a retail pharmacist?

What school do you go to and do they provide a lot of IPPE/APPE opportunities with non-retail companies? Does anybody go into pharmacovigilence/genetics/kinetics/dynamics?

What would I have to do to not going into retail?

If you don’t want to go into retail, then don’t go into pharmacy. Retail is still the bread and butter of pharmacy and makes up about 70% of all pharmacist jobs. There are other professions, i.e. computer programming, engineering, finance, accounting, etc. that provide a better work-life balance and pay as well as pharmacy if not better without requiring you to take out an additional $200k+ in loans and spend another 4 years in school.

You could go into research. You could do a residency after pharmD.
