What percentile on the PSAT do u need to get national merit?

As said before, a score of 200+ will most likely fetch "Commended." In recent years, it seems that it's not only 200, but ** 201 ** being the cut-off point.

That was only last year. This year it should return to the normal 199-200 because this year's PSAT was extremely hard for some reason. Look at more years.

If this year's PSAT was extremely hard, the curves didn't show. I hope the statewide levels drop. I would hate to have gotten one or two points away from the cutoff. I got a 220, and would hate to have missed semifinalist for that, but what can I say. I live in MA.

There's more important things, though, than NMSC.

For those of you who are in California:

The cutoff last year was an unbelievably high 216. For this year, I'm guess it's higher since 24 of the total 107 who scored perfect on the March SAT I in 2005 were from California too.

I got a 220, and I'm crossing my fingers :) Good luck to the rest of you too, who may qualify!

The SAT and PSAT are seperate. The cutoff scores will go down because the mininum score required for the 99th percentile went down. Dig deep for the information, it's all on the College Board Website.
