99.99% of the people of African origin in the Americas are “whiter” than you are black.

Truly a sad and shameless question to ask.

I have the feeling that posts like this could be cited by non-CCers as evidence of the moral decay due to college policies.

Personally, I strongly disagree with affirmative action policies as a matter of principle. So go ahead an check off African-American just as a big **** *** to the system; it is a definite and substantial advantage (equivalent to 100-200 points on the SAT)

They can’t rescind you. The race box makes it clear that you check off whatever you self-identify as.
So you are of a black identity if you identify as black.

No interviewer will ever know; interviewers are not given the details of your application (my Harvard interviewer had to ask me what classes I was taking, etc…) (and if you’re really concerned about this, you can always decline college interviews… and don’t worry, the interviews barely play any role in admissions)

how would even know that ?what is that like 180 years ago, sounds like you want to boost your chances as an affirmative action acceptance. I guess there are two ways to look at it. one if colleges want to play the game so should you or it is morally wrong to make a claim just to have your application fast tracked to the top of the pile! I will note that Harvard is now involved in a scandal with a woman who claimed to be 1/32 native american and is running for senator!

That’s not true…every school is different. They are not given details like grades, SAT scores, and extracurriculars, but are often given identifying information like race, high school, and contact information (and perhaps intended major).
