I’m sorry sylvan. I guess I sound obnoxious. And I’m sorry silverturtle. I looked it up and it was 3 wrong in CR and 2 in math. My memory is a little sketch at night I guess lol. Are you sure that that has never happened? It’s on the collegeboard website…

I guess it only seems like a lot of people have 2400 because of CC. But I mean scores in that range.

Yes, I am quite sure.

My bad, misread the website. That’s a relief.

2 wrong in critical reading would have gotten you a 790 on the May test… Regardless, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. CC has a bad tendency to attract students with stellar stats, and posting here can be very daunting. With a 2210 and URM status, you’re in good shape for most of the top schools. Just remember to distinguish yourself from the competition.

I’m not lying if that’s what you mean It was a hard curve You can look it up farther back in the forum.

Yes, CC can give a false impression in that respect. In reality, the number of people who apply to a given top school (HYPS and the like) with perfect stats (i.e., 2400, 3*800, 4.0, rank 1) is certainly lower than fifty.

Apparently there is a heap of rejected 2400’s lying around somewhere. Having been rejected from the HYPS, they then take up all the spaces at the less-than-HYPS. No room for anyone else. Ergo, all schools are full to the brim with 2400’s. Maybe writergrl can get into a nice community college?

I thought that you were asking whether -2 had ever yielded 750.

OP, you obviously aren’t lying, and we aren’t trying to antagonize you or sound elitist. You are in much better shape than you think.

No, I got 3 wrong. 64 out of 67. And I got a 750 on that section in May. I’m not sure how Pioneer Jones knows that it was a 790? But that’s not what is on my score report.

A friend of mine missed 2 and got a 790 in May… Regardless, this is beside the point.

He was saying that -2 was 750. It’s entirely possible that -2 to -3 could be a 40-point drop because the rounding for incorrect answers pushes you to -4 raw.

That makes sense. The scores are pretty thinned out in the upper range as it is. One point on the raw score can be a 20-40 point difference on the scaled score.

Ohh I see. I’m sorry I just didn’t want you to think I was like a ■■■■■ or anything. I guess it would make sense to take it again but if I’m good either way, it would be risky.

Yeah it does make sense but in that case, if one or two questions makes such a huge difference, what are my chances of getting one less wrong next time. That seems slim.

Exactly why I don’t think you really need to take the test again. Like I stated before, you’re in the ballpark of scores that these colleges are looking for, and you’re hooked to boot. If you shift your focus to and excel in the other aspects of the application process, like essays and interviews, I have confidence you will get into several of these schools.

Hm… what if I’m not too good with essays…?
P.S. Thanks silverturtle and Pioneer sooo much for your help!!

Work on your essays this summer if need be, and have your english teachers help you correct and edit them when the school year starts in the fall. And you’re absolutely welcome :)

PioneerJones, are you also a 2400 CCer? I thought that Silverturtle was the only one from this year. Congratulations to both of you!

kidding aside writergrl94, several competitive schools we have visited mentioned they like to see “passion”. why do you want to be an engineer? have you done anything that shows evidence of passion for engineering (volunteering with Habitat maybe, or an engineering awareness for minorities program)?
