What safeties?

I was just wondering… Everyone who is applying to the air force academy, what other schools are you applying to, as second and third and so on schools?

I don't know if I really count, since I'm already at the Academy, but I applied for USMA and USNA plus Cal Poly, UC Irvine, and UCLA. (From California...yee-ah baby. :P)

I've also applied to UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, Texas Christian University(allready accepted) and I'm going to apply to USD. As you can tell I'm from Socal..whoop whoop..haha. But my obvious first choice is AFA. :)

The only other school I applied to was Embry-Riddle (Daytona, FL) and AFROTC there. I figured regardless, I want to go into the Air Force.

My son applied to USNA, USMA, USCGA, MIT, RPI, GA Tech, VA Tech, and Stanford University.

I applied to the USNA, USMA, and the USMMA. Already got accepted to USAFA but want to see my options.

Son applied to USAFA (first choice) then Northwestern, Rice, Marquette, and MSOE, in that order of preference.

I also applied to Illinois Institute of Technology, and UIUC.

I also applied to Rose-Hulman IT, Georgia Tech, Purdue, and Colorado School of Mines. Got all, made the right choice.

Son has also applied to USNA, USMA, Colorado School of Mines, UT-Austin, and Texas A&M.

My main goal is to apply to the Air Force Academy. if that fails im either going to a prep school (northwestern, or new mexico military institute) or ROTC at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. If that fails im enlisting AF Reserve while going to Vaugn College of Aeronatics and Technology getting an aircraft operations degree. All while still re-applying to the Air Force Academy every year till im too old.

I only applied to the AF Academy, although I don't advise that. It created a little bit of a problem when I got disqualified right before inprocessing, hadn't applied anywhere else, and hadn't gotten scholarships to pay for anything else either. As it turned out, I just went to a local community college for a year while I reapplied and it worked out alright as I got my teeth (yes, teeth) "issue" waived the second time.

USNA, Northwestern, SLU, U of Illinois, IIT; and AFROTC and NROTC, all in order of preference. But my first choice /by far/ is USAFA!

I am only a junior, but I plan on also applying to Cornell, GaTech, RHIT, Purdue, and UMich. This is interesting to hear from other people.

dauntlessthedrab, I HIGHLY suggest visting them all. Prior to visiting, my preferences were:
1 USAFA
2 Cornell
3 Purdue
4 GATech
5 RHIT

After visiting:
1 USAFA!!!!!!!!
2 RHIT!
3 GATech
4 Purdue

I wanted chem engineering if I didn't come here, I found the lab environment and classrooms at Cornell AWEFUL, and no lab time for undergrad till junior year, mostly grad based. RHIT was amazing, beautiful, impressive department head, AMAZING labs, huge and modern, and a great atmosphere. GATech the same way. So ya, make sure to visit, it really changed my perspective. Also, I couldn't stand the people, both students and prospective, just, blah. lol.

saratia, I'm guessing you are from Illinois. (So am I.) Whereabouts do you come from? I'm from the suburbs of Chicago.

Thanks for the advice Hornetguy. My preference right now is USAFA, Cornell, GaTech, RHIT, Michigan, Purdue. The only one that I have visited is GaTech, which was pretty cool. It isnt the best looking campus though. Cornell, on the other hand, looks like an amazing campus, but I will definately check it out like you said and my mind could likely be changed. Hopefully I will get to visit USAFA this summer in the Summer Seminar.

Ya, Cornell was beautiful, and it is good for some people. Just have to be sure, don't want to be miserable for 4 years. Like here, I don't think any campus I saw is as beautiful as it gets here, I might be biased though.... :)

I applied to Rice, Colorado School of Mines, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and U of Minnesota. Willing to go to the school with the best deal on fin. aid, but I am waiting for USAFA to come through(first choice). Mines is the only one to offer anythig, a $36000 scholarship (9000 yr).

Rice is beautiful. My friend is over there and its pretty much the closest college to me at home.

I assume you got the Golden Scholarship from Mines, good deal, helps to have one school ready immediately.
