What SAT score do I need for NMF?

Got a 2060 on first New SAT test and haven't taken it since. I've been self-studying and doing practice tests so my score should go up but I don't want to risk it. Is 2060 good enough to make it to Finalist?

National Merit Finalists are based on the PSAT.

No, National Merit Semi-Finalists are based on the PSAT.

I have heard that around 2050 is the cutoff for NMF, but remember that SAT is not the only factor.

You might be okay, but if you think that you'll do better if you retake it, I would do that. It never hurts to be well above the minimum. (If 2050 is indeed the minimum..)

2000+ is definitely good enuf to validate your psat score, since the SAT has two things that the psat does not: 1) essay; 2) Alg II problems. The NM program just doesn't want to reward a one-hit wonder -- someone who aces the psat and really bombs the SAT. GPA is another factor.... 220 on psat with a 2.5 gpa will not make finalist.
