Not sure if someone has posted this question before, but for the NMS Semifinalist Requirements, it says that to qualify for FInalist, you must have SAT scores that "confirm your performance on the PSAT/NMSQT"

I got a 236 on my PSAT, so I'm assuming I'll make the cut for semifinalist, but my SAT score was a 2200...Is this too much of a discrepancy with the PSAT score?

kingofivy…Your 2200 is more than enough to qualify as a “verifying” score. You DO NOT have to “match” your PSAT (i.e. 2360 in your case), you only need to achieve a verifying score to show that your PSAT wasn’t a fluke. Historically, this verifying score has been around 1970-ish or higher, so the number you’ll usually see mentioned is 2000+ just to be safe. Your school should receive official notification of your NMSF status in September, and that notification will include instructions on how to proceed with the Semi-Finalist package requirements. Congrats on a fantastic PSAT and SAT score, and good luck with your college plans!!

Moderator: Is there any chance we can get an FAQ “pinned” with the intent of curtailing some of these recurring questions? I am sure some of the frequent contributors to this forum would be happy to provide one.

I’ll make the FAQ thread. If it can get pinned, then fine.
