What scholarships are available here?

Hi everybody,

So basically I’m a EFC 0 candidate with high stats. My net price at this school turned out 12k something beyond my affordability. A person on this forum told me USC Columbia has great merit scholarships. Browsed the website but couldn’t gather much. Does anybody know what are those scholarships and what kind are those?

You need to improve your googling skills. https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/undergraduate_admissions/tuition_scholarships/scholarships/nonresidents/index.php

@suzy100, I’ve searched but the link which may contain the scholarships doesn’t open with my browser, says ‘info not available for your country’. Only the main website shows up nothing else. Kinda crazy, no school showed up like this. Guess I’ll try VPN. I did win Google Coding contests 1.5 year ago.

Stamps Scholars annual value: Up to $20,000 + tuition reduction + $10,000 enrichment fund
Four-year value: Up to $167,000

McNair Scholars annual value: $15,000 + tuition reduction
Four-year value with tuition reduction: More than $137,000

Horseshoe Scholars annual value: $11,000
Four-year value with tuition reduction: More than $121,000

The Top Scholars Awards are the most prestigious awards at the university. Approximately, 45 out-of-state students with strong academic records who are leaders in their high schools and communities will be invited to participate in an interview weekend.

Of these candidates, 20 will be named McNair Scholars and 20 will be named Horseshoe Scholars. Additionally, the top five candidates will be nominated as Stamps Scholars and will interview for the chance to receive an enrichment stipend to fund opportunities such as undergraduate research, study abroad, service projects or unpaid internships.

Candidates must participate in the entire weekend (March 3-5, 2018) in order to remain in consideration for these awards. Last year, out-of-state Top Scholars had an average SAT score of 1533 (ACT score of 34) and an average weighted high school GPA of 4.74. Recipients of these awards qualify for the in-state tuition rate.

Please note: To apply for these scholarships, both an application for general university admission and a Top Scholars application must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. All students are encouraged to complete the general admissions application by October 15. A separate Honors College/Top Scholars application must be completed for Top Scholars award consideration no later than November 15.

ETA: There are more but these are the big ones.

If student is international these may not apply. OP needs to call admissions to ask about scholarships if he doesn’t find info that applies on the website.

Suzy 100 mentioned them in above post. US Citizen here.

Sorry, browser issue causing my posts to repeat.

@GuessME5 to get to a full ride, you really need to be at a 35/36 and preferably national merit. Maybe you are, you didn’t mention. My daughter got $2000 plus instate tuition with a 33 and a 4.0 Unweighted, rank #1 and amazing extracurriculars including an invention with a patent pending. It’s very competitive . With tuition + high fees, room and board that left about $28,000. Assuming you are Pell Grant eligible, you would still be looking at a sizable gap. I presume you are a junior if you are just starting to look. You might want to look at smaller private schools that meet 100% need.
