What school should I attend in the Fall 2020?

I’m not sure if this is allowed but I guess I’ll find out. I’m a senior in high school and realized that its now April and I have to make a decision soon and it’s slipped my mind. I’ve tried to do as many online sessions as possible but it’s not the same as visiting the campus which as you know I cannot do. If anyone has any suggestions on the colleges and why I’d really appreciate it. As one of the first to go to school in my family it’s hard finding people who know first hand.

I don’t have the highest stats and I know that already so no need for any negative comments etc. I also plan to major in Business Administration / Economics.

Rutgers Newark or New Brunswick (NJ)
Temple University (PA)
McDaniel College (MD)
University of Tampa (FL)
Penn State (2+2 Program) Erie / Behrend (PA)
Towson University (MD)
U Mass Lowell (MA)
Clemson (SC)
Ramapo College (NJ)
St. John Fisher College (NY)

Thanks for reading and if you decide to give your opinion thanks for your help.

I’d say either Clemson, Penn State or Rutgers NB. They are all solid choices. I’d say Penn State and Clemson are more well known, which could help when looking for a job later on. Penn State’s alumni network cannot be beat so that’s another major factor to consider.

Congrats. Low stats? Those are awesome choices.

If money is no object to these choices. Choose based on what you are personally looking for in the next four years.

Clemson is fantastic. But it definately has a southern vibe. Which I would like personally. The sports and the academics.

Penn State. Same exact type of school. All kinds of energy. However the two and two wouldn’t be my first choice.

Rutgers. Fantastic school. Depending on your major it may be as good a flagship option as you could hope for in a university. Certainly more of east coast vibe and ny/Nj student body.

what is instate ? if you think you may need grad school go w your instate flagship unless you have a compelling case for somewhere else, in NJ RU NB is 30K vs 58 for Penn State.

A lot of people do love 2+2 though for Penn State, so I wouldn’t count it out. It gives you an opportunity to get some of your harder classes out of the way at a smaller campus and it might be easier to adjust to college life.

What’s instate for you?
What’s the net cost?
===> to calculate, take your FA package and calculate this only:
[tuition, fees, room, board] - [grants, scholarships] =
Can you list each university and its net cost in your next post?
That’ll help us calculate value for money.
In addition, do you know your FAFSA EFC and what your parents can pay from income and savings? Have they been furloughed or hit by the current crisis?

That and make sure you don’t count any loans when you subtract grants and scholarships from tuition, fees, room, and board so you can compare the costs.

Congratulations on getting into so many schools! I’m sure your stats are good enough as you got into quite a number of places. No one is going to care about your high school stats after this, anyway.

I would look at the following:

  1. Price and what you can afford.
  2. Location. You have schools that are all over the place. Do you want to be in a certain part of the country?
  3. Do all these schools have the things you think you want to study?
  4. Join the accepted student groups and see how you like talking to others in those groups. That might give you some sense of things. Maybe.

It is too bad you can’t do school visits. Ultimately, I think there is no way to know if you will like a school even if you could visit each. You could have a bad visit due to one or two people at a place you would fit in well and vice versa. making sure you can afford the school and it has what you want in terms of programming is important.

Good luck to you!
