-board member of key club (I will probably be president my senior year)
-started a tutoring program for the middle school basketball program

I'm not sure what other achievements to add. I'm an athlete and I'm trying to decide whether to go for an academic scholarship or an athletic scholarship. Oh, also I have taken many AP classes including Calculus 1 and I will take Calc 2 during my junior year.

I want to major in finance.

What large schools in the southeast (public or private) will probably give me a full ride? And how will I know that the school is interested in giving me a full ride?? I would LOVE to go to university of south Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, or Vanderbilt!

There are VERY few schools that offer a full ride (which includes room and board). Let us know how you do on your PSAT and SAT. Those are important for getting assured merit aid. Some schools have full tuition scholarships for NMF. This year the cutoff for GA was a 215 for Juniors.

If you scroll down through this forum, you will find a number of threads on the topic of guaranteed merit-based aid. There are more in the Parents Forum.

If you do well on the PSAT for junior year (make sure you take it), then you’ll make National Achievement and/or National Merit…

Since you did well as a soph, I suspect that you’ll score high enough as a junior.

If you do make NA and/or NMF, then Bama would give you their big scholarship of free tuition, housing (including honors), plus other goodies.
