What schools would match me?

Hi my name is Jane and I am a current eight grader. I applied to Deerfield this year for 9th grade and got rejected. It was the only school I applied to. My alternative now is my public high school. I want to reapply next year along with some other boarding schools. I'm wondering if I should even try to apply, and if so, should I apply as a tenth grade applicant or a ninth grade repeat?!?!

Geographical Location: Massachusetts, near the cape so I must be a boarder at all the schools I want to apply to.

Ethnicity: Irish, English (Caucasian)

My SSATs this year: 99% reading, 98% math, 63% verbal. (ouch...I don't do well with this section...suggestions???)

In need of financial aid...

My Classes this year:

Honors Algebra Review/Geometry
Honors Language Arts
Honors Geology/Physics
U.S. History
Morality in Humans
French 1

My classes next year:

Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry
Honors Freshman English
Honors Biology
Honors Modern World History
French 2
Advanced Orchestra

During 9th grade year, I am also taking an online PreCal course and am getting private tutoring with an education consultant.

10th grade/or 9th grade repeat year, I will be ready to take Honors Calculus.

I'm thinking of applying next year to Deerfield Academy, Saint Paul's School, Phillips Andover Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, and Middlesex School. Should I give it a shot?

& most importantly...should I apply as a ninth grade repeat or a tenth grader???

Please list and give me reference to information of schools you think I would be a good match to! Thank you, it means a lot to me!!!

In school, I always get grades between 94-103

in math this term I got an 89. First B ever...

all other grades are A+.

I need a school with a strong dance program, strong math and science program, crew team, squash, tennis, and a friendly environment with motivated kids. Also need a school that gives a lot of financial aid.

Find me a match!!

Thanks in advance...

I would say you and St. Paul's would be a great match. =]

andover, exeter, deerfield,........all are looking for applicants like you

really, h-o-p-e-f-u-l? thanks! In what ways do you think I look best in front of the AdComs??? Congrats on Andover, btw! & all the other schools you got into!!!

oh, yeahh.. I would also like to add to my ec's that i'm a recreational rock climber and want to set up a rock climbing club at whatever school I hopefully get admitted too.

& I founded a dog walking club which myself, my sister, and two of my friends volenteer to play and walk dogs and cats of the elderly of my town...

Exeter has a strong math curriculum and an amazing science building, but the dance program isn't very strong. We do have dedicated good dancers but they're always complaining... most people come to Exeter for academics.

Exeter's dance progrm seems pretty good, not my favorite out of the schools that I am applying to, though... I saw a video on youtube.com from a fall dance show. I'm not going to base my decision on who has the best dance program because there are so many other things to do and worry about at b.s. I love Exeter.

oooh yeah there are student dance groups and they work really hard and perform at the end of each term at assembly. i love exeter because of the harkness method... other schools have it too but not for every subject, and it's really unique (especially math-- i understand math so much better now) Are you planning on visiting the different schools? good luck! your ECs sound amazing. :)

i think a lot of people repeat a year if they want the full 4-year experience.

hope i helped

I absolutely am!! You actually have been a big help...

I'm going to PM you...

Oh, yeah and I am absolutely fond of the harkness method...I bet I'd be able to excel in math better too, I hope...

bump......
