I’m in 10th standard in India. Marks of which classes will be considered in your college application? Is a CGPA 9 in class 9th good?
Well, it takes more than good grades to get into Harvard or any other ivy. But yeah in order to show the admission officers that you are a good student in terms of academics you should try to score above 90% AND show IMPROVEMENT.In terms of CGPA you should try to maintain an average of 9.6 . However you must keep in mind that Harvard accepts only 4-5 students from India and all of those have some " special" . Some are national level athletes or have bagged a International level medal ( not those SOF medals ) or have made some kind of app that has been listed in the best apps ever created or have written an essay that is just unbeatable .
You must also not limit your options . Harvard is a good college ( rather extremely good) but their are other good colleges and some might even have a better reputation in the field that you are interested in.
My elder brother had 2370 in SAT and 800 in subjects . He had the best grades in his class . He was a state level table tennis player and played guitar ( for almost 6 years ) . He had 98% in 10th and 97% in 11th . Still he didn’t get into Harvard ( He got into Stanford though, which again one of the best college). Trust me however bitter the truth might be -one can never really predict his chances and no grades can ever guarantee you admission in a particular college. Although good grades, more or less, depict the kind of hard work you had put in and they might help in getting into a good college.
BUT NEVER LOOSE HOPE ! KEEP WORKING HARD AND ONE DAY YOU WILL GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE !!
P.S. : I myself am not an expert but this is what I have ever learnt from my brother and from college confidential. I am a class 10th student and if you doubt what i have said then just check any Indian thread where people have posted their college’s decision and see yourself.
AND EVEN I ASPIRE TO GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE SOMEDAY ( HOPEFULLY HARVARD )!!
