What should go in a research supplement?

Some of the colleges I'm applying to allow research supplements. For those of you who will say I should only use it if my research was extraordinary, I was a Siemens semifinalist my junior year. However, due to time constraints (and a bit of bad luck >.<) I wasn't able to even complete my project for this year. What I did this past summer is what I'm really interested in. I mentioned a sentence or two about both in my extracurricular supp (did it about research) and I've made references to what I did THIS summer in my "Why college x?" essays. Should the research supplement just be my abstract and paper from the project I actually used in competitions, or should it maybe be a summary of both summers plus my abstract from last summer? OR some combination? Thanks. Sorry for making that a really long question btw.

If it makes a difference, the project I did that I entered into Siemens was with 2 partners.

(I posted this on another board too).

The thing is… I worked on the paper with two partners. I feel like maybe I shouldn’t send it. Like, you wouldn’t send yourself singing a duet for a music supplement.
