I know i really like CS. I dont have any experience of EE. I am very math and science oriented, and i really hate arts and humanities. I know that EECS is much more respected and that with CS you only get a BA. So my dilemma is:

1890 SAT

3.9 uw
4.27 w

I know that isnt a whole lot of information, but i think i have a much better shot of getting into CS than EECS. What should i do? Should i just go for EECS, or should i just try to get into Berkeley?

I’m currently a freshman in L&S planning on majoring in CS. Most of the people in my class are EECS and many do have the FALSE impression that CS is easier than EECS. The reason why this is false is because CS and EECS have the same requirements for CS. The EECS population is much larger than the CS population (probably a 10:1 ratio just estimating). If you absolutely hate arts and humanities (what about social sciences?) and you don’t plan on double majoring or exploring otehr fields, then EECS may be better for you.

In 2009 there were 73 CS majors and 267 EECS major. It is ~3:1 not 10:1.

Now to the OP, what the heck… you made a thread like this a while back and got an answer already
No one gives a damn between and EECS BS and a CS BA when you are looking at a CS job (for an EE job there is an obvious difference).

EECS will make you take a lot of CS-irrelevant difficult as f**k physics and math courses. Also you still have to do humanity/social science work in EECS, it is only a few courses fewer than L&S’s seven course breadth.

Bottomline: if you apply to EECS, you probably won’t get into Berkeley

@anon5524485: sorry for the repeated posts, but I will probably do this same post 2 or 3 more times before applications just because i panic
hahaha

maybe you should spend more time working on your SATs instead of asking questions that won’t give you complete (since we aren’t adcom) or even better answers than were given last time.
