Hi,
I have a few questions about the Stanford Application process. Specifically, about the standardized tests. I know a few threads on this exist, but they didn't really give me a satisfactory answer. Do I have to send ACT scores from every sitting? I took the ACTs MANY times to get to my best score. I needed to pay a lot of money out of my own pocket for these tests, but it was definitely worth seeing my ACT change from a 27 to a 36.
Also, would it be better for me to send in just the SATs, ACTs, or both? Also, if you guys don't mind, please give me an opinion in the case that they might see all my ACTs or only my best one. I know I am really over thinking this, but I am a very nervous senior (and I think most of us are :) ). My SAT I and II scores are posted below. Thanks in advance for anyone's input!

SAT I: First: 2170 (Math: 800, CR: 730, W: 640) I'm planning to retake this in December to raise my writing and CR. Really messed up on the writing by filling in the wrong section towards the end :( .

SAT II: Math II: 800
Physics: 790
Chemistry: 740

Thanks.
So, I can send just one of my ACTs? The website says all. And I know I should be sending all. But, like you said, I don't want to spend all that money sending in all my scores. Also, I'm embarrassed at how many times I took it and I was counting on the fact that ACT lets you send the scores of you choice.

well, it's not really fair that you could take it enough times to work up to a perfect score, but that's the way it is and you should exploit it. as far as i know stanford has no way of seeing each of your act scores, so i think you could very easily send only one and they wouldn't know whether you took it just once or 15 times. i would take advantage of the score choice and send only your highest score.

But, makes me feel guilty and I don't really know if I can live with that :). Well, I'm not going to make it, so I guess it makes no difference in the end.
Thanks for your input. I think I'll just send in all of them. Worked enough over the summer to afford sending them all anyways.
btw, took the ACTs 5 times. Wouldn't be sane after taking it 15 times.

i think you are making a mistake... you're committing no sin by sending in only your top score, i think even my guidance counselor told me to send in only my highest (i didn't end up sending it in though). i think that the vast majority of people send in only their highest, after all, there aren't many people who are as concerned as you and go find the sentence on it somewhere in the depths of the stanford website. while they do only look at your top composite score, they are human beings and regardless of what they say they do i still think they will have certain biases.

do what you want, i think it is stupid to waste 45 dollars or however much it is sending in all of those reports. if you feel really bad about it, id say send in the top two.

:(
Now I'm in the same dilemma again. I've sent the admissions office two emails on this already, but never got a reply. The only thing bothering me is that this information really isn't all that hard to find, and I don't think Stanford Admissions would specifically ask for all of the scores without expecting all of them. Also, I don't know if there is any way the admissions people will know whether I have sent them all of my scores or not. And finally, there is the question about honesty. Really would suck if my application didn't even get reviewed for being dishonest.
Anyways, I'll stop babbling on. I guess I still have time to ask my counselor and peers about this.
Thanks GimmeStanford. Best of luck on your applications.
