Hello. I am a sophomore and next year I have planned what I am going to take as courses. I will be taking english 101, Calculus II(will take Calc I in summer), and physics at the local community college. The courses will count for both HS and college. I will only take US history in my high school. I was wondering if taking these courses will affect my college admission. I will be continuing these courses throughout the rest of high school. Would I still be able to enter university as a freshman? will my credits count? I am aspiring to top schools like MIT and CalTech. I really want to do my best. I would not forgive myself if I did not take a chance. Would those courses let me enter as a freshman? I am asking this because I know the transfer rates are super low in these schools and they accept practically no one. please help me :(

Why do you scream “HELP!”?? Did you fall of your tricycle? No, and it’s not like this is even that important. You are wasting years of your life thinking about a stupid college admissions game. Just calm down and follow your passions.

College courses taken to fulfill HS requirements will still allow you to apply as a freshman. After you are accepted to a college you can talk to them about possibly having advanced standing. That would probably not occur at a very competitive school. They would just start you with more advanced courses.

You’ll be fine, and I guess in retrospect my comment was a bit rash. I just had emotions run to my head as hearing what you said reminded me of myself in that year as I was doing everything possible to get into the best university. I found out the hard way that I took on waaaay too much.
