What should I do if I don't hear back from the other schools I applied to before the 30th of June?

So I was accepted to New England College. They are offering me the opportunity scholarship, which is $19,000 per year. I got my letter on the tenth, and have to submit my deposit of 300 dollars. by the 30th.This is the only school I’ve been accepted to so far.
But the thing is I’m waiting to here back from a few other schools. Franklin Pierce University, Keele State College, Eastern Washington University, University of Hawaii at Manoa and University of Hawaii at Hilo. If I submit my deposit though and I get accepted to one of the others, and wish to change my mind, I’ll be screwed because 300 dollars is a lot and obviously it is nonrefundable. Do you think I should just submit the deposit and deal with it?

I think that you should move forward if you don’t hear. That’s a very nice scholarship for a late acceptance, and I don’t think you can count on other colleges meeting it. You can postpone your decision until 11:59 p.m. on the 30th, but colleges will be making room assignments, etc., and it’s probably time to commit.

Pay the deposit. $300 is a very small amount in the scheme of college costs though it may sound like a lot. You may get other offers later in the summer, but if you don’t, you’ll have lost the only chance you had to enroll this year.

Is that scholarship big enough so that you can afford this college? If not, then you can’t accept the offer because you won’t be able to attend.

Unless you expect to get huge amounts of need-based aid, $300 will not be a huge amount compared to your tuition, room and board. A $19K scholarship is a very nice offer, though the cost of attendance here is higher than some of your others. At this late date it depends on who still has room in their class. What do your parents/guardians think?

I’m going to pay the deposit because I don’t want to lose my only opportunity say, I don’t get into the other schools.
