What to major in any steps I should follow. Please help

There are a lot of routes for this. I can tell you what my son did. He majored in accounting and then got is masters in fanancial planning from Bentley. Subsequently, he worked at a CPA firm and got his CPA before going to work for a financial firm.

Would finance be an option as well?

Take courses in finance, accounting, economics, business

You don’t really have to study anything specific to be hired as an investment advisor (I worked for a time at a large stockbrokerage firm, and the people they hired came from all walks of life, and from various professions), but you should be aware that there are certain important certifications people need to get as financial planners, even if they went to Harvard Business School, that are not even related to college, such as CFP (certified financial planner), or the Series 7 stockbroker license, and the life insurance sales license, and the above courses will help you pass those exams, much more so than if you major in psychology or english, for example.

Just to add to floridad55’s post. If you apply to one of the Insurance or Investment houses, they will pay for your Life insurance license along with the series7 and 63. Also some companies will pay for your CFP. Your undergrad degree doesn’t matter, as long as you can sell and manage other people’s assets. I am interest in accounting, not selling or managing anybody’s personal finance.
