Yes, you can SIR to one and withdraw if your appeal works. My personal opinion, if you don’t get into UCI and really want it, is to stay at the CCC and get all the pre-reqs lined up. Assuming you maintain your GPA, you should have no trouble getting into UCI next round.
So I called the UCI Admissions office today, and they said that I was not accepted due to the major on my TAG and my preferred major on my application being different. I double checked and saw that they are in fact not different. The guy also said that I was missing a physics class, but in my TAU I specified that I am taking that said physics class this semester, to be completed by spring 2015. They told me the only way of changing my admission was to appeal. How is this even fair? I was denied admission to my school of choice due to a mistake on their part, and now my only chance of getting in is to appeal.
Did you tell that you double checked the major and the physics class to the person on the phone?
I’d submit your appeal ASAP, but also get back on the phone since (you are right) it is THEIR mistake
@luckie1367 I called back again since I hung up. The lady told me the only thing I can and should do is appeal. If I get back on the phone with them, what should I say?
I believe you have to appeal either way. Once they decline, the appeal is the process to note the error.
Also, I may be wrong about UCI but in general with the UCs once you are denied a TAG, there is no TAG appeal, the decision is final re TAG, so there’s no point talking about TAG anymore. You just have to appeal as a regular applicant and note the errors you indicated. If it is their fault, one would assume they would accept the appeal.
I am not 100% sure of the no TAG appeal rule across the board, but it is in place at the UCs I know about.,
@klasick One other thing. I see you listed an alt major to UCI. The TAG has to be for the first major, not the alternate (unless I have lost my marbles). I’m thinking the TAG major issue may possibly revolve around your formatting of those two courses within the application.
@lindyk8 I applied to UCI with a preferred major and an alt major. My preferred was comp sci+eng (which was listed on my TAG) and my alt major was computer science. However, the person at the admissions office told me that the reason my TAG was nullified is because the major listed on my TAG was supposedly computer science, which is not true.
Eh, then I’d just write a very clear and concise appeal.
I’m sorry @Klasick this is such a hassle
agree with @luckie1367. Good luck!
