I am a girl (junior) who is highly interested in computer science/tech, math, and science. I am also interested in some humanities, like foreign language (specifically French). I am not looking for any super selective/prestigious programs at this point- I just care about the experience and what I will be able to get out of the program.

Should I just take some tech courses (such as through iD tech) and make apps? Then I feel as if... no summer program = colleges think I wasted my summer or something... I don't know.

I was also thinking of doing this^ but with a Concordia Language Villages program. However, I do not know in what light colleges would view this since it is in the U.S. (not one of those study abroad programs)... so I was also thinking of doing a program in a French-speaking area of Canada (not willing to go to France). If I do one of these, it would strengthen my French teacher's rec for colleges next year in case I were to ask her for one.

There is also a program at a UC that is focused on scientific research & art, but it is only two weeks. Another one is at at a Uni in Illinois, focused on mathematics/comp.sci. research- only one week. +this second one requires a letter of recommendation, which would be a hassle to get considering I already asked many of my teachers for recs for some selective summer programs. Neither of these research opportunities would allow me to compete in research competitions, but they're something.

So what is the best bet for me? Any other programs that may suit me still open for applications? I would prefer them to have to do with computer science, math, or scientific research relating to the first to fields. I am not yet good enough with programming to get a full on internship at a start up company (no resume or anything).

Thanks so much!
