What should I do this summer?

I thought about doing some science/math programs, but it would really cut into offseason football training. Are prestigious summer programs really worth it? I live in MD so I can't really commute to Promys, RSI, etc. I might be able to do NIH if the schedule fits and if I have a ride. I would like to take Calculus either at UMD-CP, UMD-BC, or Montgomery College, but I still need to do some research on the courses and the teachers(there is a good AP Calc teacher at my HS, but I want to do MV Calc/Diff Eq my senior year ). Finally, I could always get a job or try to get an internship. NIH/Internships really intimidate me because I'm average in science.

Anyways...I'm really interested in math...I pick up concepts really quickly, but understanding how and why they work take just a little longer(Precalc atm). I'm alright with science; I don't remember every single thing taught in class. I feel like I would not be qualified to be in Promys, RSI, TASP, etc even if I do get in (the promys app looks really hard. i could probably answer one or two of the questions the long way...).

So what should I do? I really want to do something academically productive over the summer, but at the same time I want to make the most out of my last year playing H.S. football. I believe some programs will allow me to use the gyms for a fee, but I'll be missing the team aspect of football. Keep in mind that I'm aiming for top schools such as Brown, Cornell, Duke, Swarthmore, etc with only football/camp counseling/babysitting brother as extracurriculars, average GPA and test scores, and less than amazing essays.

Any advice/recommendation is appreciated. Thanks.
