I am looking to transfer to a California school (or possibly somewhere else) from Arizona State. My situation is kinda different because I went on a foreign mission for 2 years out of high school. I learned a ton, including portuguese fluently. It was a service mission, for a church, so I assume it will look good on my application. I am currently a freshman, at 22 years old, and married. I work at least 30 hours a week selling shoes at Nordstrom. I am leaning toward English as my major and will have like 25 credit hours at the end of the semester. I am looking at about a 3.8 gpa.

I took freshman english at cc my senior year and this year i have eng 200 and spanish 202, which I tested into because of the portuguese knowledge. I am taking spa 313 next semester and hope to be nearly fluent by app time. I think it is a fairly rigorous schedule with a few upper division classes.

Schools I possibly will to apply to:
USC, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, NYU, Brown

My high school record is ok, 3.8 gpa but in normal class. I did work about 20 hours a week and I was involved in scouting. I am an eagle scout. I might even write my personal statement about the impact that had on me. I never took the SAT's because I had planned on my mission then staying in state, I got into ASU without the test. Anyways, I am going to take the SAT before I apply.

I guess my main concern is what EC's should I have to be a competitive tranfer? What else do I need? Being married and working it is tough to find time, I just need something worthwhile that will really make an impression on my app. I was thinking community service as opposed to some random club but I would appreciate some feedback.

I plan on attending law school when I graduate. I want to transfer to a better school to be more competitive. I would like to go to Harvard or Yale but even if I went to ASu or U of A I would be more competitive have graduated out of state.
Well there's my life story. I just wanted to lay it all down cuz I am super confused about SAT and EC's and the things I need to be competitive.
