What should I do

I am a freshman in High School and I want to figure things out for what I want to do for my career.I feel like being a forensic scientist would be my dream job and I want to know how to pursue it.I also want a job to fall back on if they dont accept me.I would like to maybe major in forenscic science with a minor with chemistry or genetics.I was also researching that to have higher chances of getting a job in this field I should take a computer course.Could someone help me.Thanks

If you are interested in genetics, computational biology is an upcoming field that focuses on stuff like gene modeling (probably the most prominent merge between comp sci and bio). Most likely, you do not need a computer-related course but it never hurts to know programming. Even taking an intro course in hs might be valuable since its prob going to become an essential skill in the future. It will probably help you to take a computer course but it is not necessary for a forensic scientist.

Discuss this with your guidance department. Our high school offers career testing and even field trips to observe different professions in action.

As far as classes go, you’ll definitely need to do well in biology and chemistry. If forensics isn’t an elective at your high school, you may be able to take it as a dual enrollment class at a local college. Before you do that, make sure you’ve got your cores plus any other graduation requirements covered.
