What should i do?

Freshman year i had a 3.6... WITHOUT Spanish.... Sophmore year had a 3.1 Spanish 1 got D's Both semesters. Spanish 2 Junior Year(Current) Got A D First Semester and really trying not to get a D(Tutors etc) ...

ATM my gpa is a 2.9 Cum (unweighted) So Spanish 1 D/D Spanish2 D/? ... I have 2 honors classes atm.

The rest of my grades are like A/B/(like 3-4 c's, 1 D in bio 2nd semester) but these d's really screwed my gpa up. Without spanish i would of had like a 3.4ish

Im looking to get into UCF,FSU,Fau(safety). Really looking into UCF

I have alot of extracurricular stuff, awards for computers, etc.

My sat score sucked. 1200 on new sat with writing, didn't even study or anything. Going to have a tutor for sat 4 times a week and try to do better. I got a really low score on the math section but good scores on the others.

Any suggestions?

I can almost guarantee my senior year i will get strait A's or pretty close to it, since spanish is gone. ^

what is your SAT breakdown? 1200 for all three combined?

other post

I know but tell me your individual score on each like

Math:
CR:
Writing:

You can't get a 1259 on the SAT. Not sure what you mean there.

I don't want to sound harsh, but assuming you got a 200 on the math, the worst possible score, you still only got a 500 average on CR and writing, which really isn't all that good. I think studying and retaking it would be a good idea, or you could try the ACT.

SAT Reasoning Test
Critical Reading 430 25%
Math 370 9%
Writing 410 20%
Multiple Choice 41 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 7 (score range: 2-12)

Im taking the ACT soon, and retaking sat 2 more times. For state schools like UCF,FSU,FAU .... What sat score would you think i would need to get?

Florida State and UCF you need to have at least 500's across the board.

FAU I would say at least high 400's.

You really should shoot for a 1500 at least to be competative, and that's pushing it.

Ic. People at my school have gotten 800 on sat with a 3.6 and got into FSU. Think its possible to bring up my math 200 points? UCF accepts like everyone here.

So do you think there is a possibility?

800 with all three tests? that doesn't seem possible.

I do think it's possible to raise all of your scores signifcantly with practice. With a lot of hardwork I could see your SAT going up 400 points total.

Going strictly by average numbers as provided by collegeboard, with your UW GPA that is under 3, and your below average SATS, I don't think you have much of a chance at FSU, to be honest.

I don't know enough about the others.

Im really looking to get into UCF or FIU, more than fsu or fau.

I'll have a 3.0 by the end of this year. Will they bother to look at my 1st semester of senior year?

I hate to break it to you, but FSU is second toughest school to get in right after UF. It is leaps and bounds above schools like UCF, FAU, FIU, etc.. I've never heard of anyonoe who has gotten into FSU with an 800 SAT. FSU won't even look at your application with that score. You have to understand that many H.S. kids lie about their acceptance to different colleges, because they don't want to feel silly or left out. It's obvious that was the case in your school.

FAU I would say at least high 400's.

Ehhh, don't know about that. Depends on the GPA.

FAU's goal for admission in 2007 is at LEAST 500's on each section of the SAT, so I don't think high 400's will cut it anymore. Expect it to go up as well. From some of the gossip I've heard, it may be at least 600's in the next couple of years.

A lot of the Florida universities are upping the stakes because of undesirable retention numbers. The state of Florida wants to "ensure equal access to education" and in the process told some of the Florida universities to basically admit anybody with half a brain in the hopes that they'd get it together later. Now we're seeing the results of this poor decision and universities have to respond.

UCF has increased their standards as well -- according to their website, the average incoming freshman in Fall 2006 had a 1201 SAT.

Look, the good news for HS students is that regardless of how well you do or don't do on the SAT, once you have your associate's degree you can tranfer into any public college in Florida. People do this all the time and get into UF, FSU, UCF, FAU, whatever. So don't stress about it if you don't get into your top school right away... you can eventually get in.

If your dream is to get into Harvard after your Associate's... well... not so much.

It may be appropriate to consider a community college to shore up any weak areas before trying the state universities. People tend to overlook CCs but they are a valuable resource and can really help students. Not to mention you save a bundle of money in the process. Graduating from a CC is no slight - there are plenty of medical doctors and professors who took that path.

Frankly, FSU is really a sink or swim kind of university. It's not a place to try and cover weak academic areas. They will flat flunk you out and it's a job to stay apace even if you're a good student. If you need to, give yourself the chance to succeed. No one will care later, I assure you, and most will applaud your pluck in making it all happen. Give yourself some space if you need it.
