What should I focus on in order to have better chances for Harvard 2+2 ?

So, I am starting my undegrad degree this fall and I will be doing International Relations and Political Science in a Liberal Arts college.
I am interested in the Harvard 2+2 program and I`d like to know what, besides of course getting as high GPA and GMAT scores as possible, should I focus on ? I will participate in a variety of clubs and ECs.However, do I need to work during the summer, get into internship programs ?
One more thing, I still havent decided whether I want to do IR or Business Administration.I know that Harvard 2+2 is designed specifically for students who are not doing business at college. However, if I do Business and then work for 2-3 years, are my chances of getting into a regular top MBA program lowered only because I did Business as an undergrad ?
Any replies are welcomed.

Anyone ?? Bump

Come on people.,…

Guess I will respond…

Can’t really tell for sure since you haven’t started college yet and this program application is still three years away from you to even apply for - but I would have to say that you should try to get involved. You should search and read over the past few 2+2 threads - I think you will find it quite informing. Basically - you should try to find a leadership position - though I assure you it is very hard to do this freshman year as you have no background in any club.

No you won’t be chastised for choosing to pursue Business as an undergrad… It isn’t very useful to a person (at least according to the opinion of this forum) to obtain an MBA after an undergrad degree because 1. You will be learning things in the beginning that you would have learned before and 2. People who majored differently will be able to combine degrees and seek a management or consulting position. It is certainly not a BAD idea to go for an MBA after finishing an undergrad business degree - you will learn more and have an easier time than the non business degree students.
