What should I major in?

Okay, so: I plan on getting a career in the theatre, but if that falls through I'll be a teacher. Does this look normal:
I'll get a double major; performing arts and English lit., and also get a teaching degree. Is that doable? Because if I'm a teacher I want to teach English. Or should I minor in English Lit? And still get my teaching degree. gaahhhh so many questions

Congrats on 1) following your dream of theatre, and 2) having a good backup plan. Pick your college, take a semester or year of classes, and see where it goes. You don’t have to map out your entire college career before even going.

A double major in English and Performing Arts is a good combination, especially if you go into teaching. There should be some overlap in some courses (e.g., dramatic lit), so it’s should be quite do-able. Often, English teachers also teach theatre courses or direct the school drama ECs. If you can, do some coursework in speech, too, to add to your potential teaching areas.
If a theatre career falls through, you can still stay involved in community theatre, etc.

A double major is very doable with a B.A. in Theatre program; much less so with a B.F.A. program.

Thanks for the advice everyone!! I really hope things work out haha :)
