What should I major in?

So for a while I was really interested in Architecture but everyone tells me it's a bad major b/c it's not doing so spectacular in the job market (one teacher went as far to tell me it's a waste of my 'talents') and that I should look into something else. While looking around different majors (mostly engineering) I found one called biomedical engineering. It seems interesting but I don't think I've researched enough to come to a decision.

So the the question is: What other majors are there and, if you live on the east coast, are there any colleges offering accelerated programs in NY, PA, and NJ?

The major that will get you a job in a field you like if med school doesn’t work out.

For me, that’s economics. Kids can have fun with their worthless biology majors.

I have always been a proponent of having a different major. I was an econ major which worked out well. Overall, I havn’t seen success or failure with my students based on majors with my students.
