what should i schedule for instead?

Hey guys

I was wondering if you guys can give me some advice on what to schedule instead of the critical writing seminar that I didnt get during early registration. I already have science, calculus , and econ classes ... so what else should I get or should I register for the craft of prose writing seminar to get the writing req over with? Thanks in advance !

It’s def a good idea to get the writing req over by the end of freshmen year. Craft of Prose is generally for international students and/or students that struggle with english/writing but it is perfectly okay to take it. My friend fit neither of those descriptions and he took it and got an easy A. You could also just chose a sector requirement first semester and then try to get into a writing sem second semester. I didn’t get the one I wanted first semester so I waited and got into one of my first choices second semester.

Check out Penn InTouch on a daily basis after the first day of classes. You will inevitably find some writing seminars that kids dropped and can slip right on in there.

I wouldn’t say its absolutely required for you to do the writing seminar freshman year. I took a bunch of other requirements freshman year and did mine sophomore year. In fact, I think my writing seminar had more juniors and seniors than anything else. It does give you the flexibility to choose more upper level courses once you’re an upperclassmen as you but as long as you’re making good progress on your required courses, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

It’d help if you told us what school you were in and what you wanted to major in though.

Im in the CAS and I want to either switch to Wharton~Finance concentration or econ major in CAS. If I dont get a writing major would continuing on Spanish would a good choice although I already have my language req fulfilled with 2 other languages?

If you want to take Spanish, then take Spanish. If you’re considering studying abroad, taking a language is a good idea…

@ rundmc, iirc internal transfer has its own set of requirements that you need to complete before applying. check with the wharton undergrad office about what those requirements are. as for econ in the college, you don’t need to switch, just continue on as normal and declare your major once you’ve decided.
