I know that these two classes are easy, but which one is more "easier" in your opinion?

Mus 4 (McAllister) or Cogs 1 (Deak)?

I just need an easy class for this quarter..

Thanks for any response!

more easier? lol

They’re both going to be really easy, so just take the one that won’t be a chore for you to (not) study for. COGS will be the more straightforward course though, as how enjoyable MUS 4 will be depends on your own appreciation of music. If you’re interested in both, go for the McAllister class as he’s a really great guy who’s willing to help students out if they should run into problems (which shouldn’t happen anyways).

thanks for the info! appreciate it! xD

No clue about COGS 1, but I can definitely recommend MUS 4 with McAllister - he’s an awesome professor.

The only drawback is the exam format for the class can be kind of difficult if you don’t start studying well in advance. You’re given like, 15-20ish pieces you need to know for each exam. He’ll play a random 30 seconds of a piece and you have to identify the artist/composer and title (it’s fill-in-the-blank). I was dumb and didn’t really start studying until the day/night before the test and it was difficult for me, but you’d probably be good to go if you just didn’t do that, haha. Plus there are only 4 or 5 song identifications and the rest of the test is almost all multiple choice, so that’s chill.

For Mus 4 w/ McAllister, I recommend getting a headstart on listening to the required music on the digital audio reserves + reading your notes about each piece. Too many people try to cram in the music and end up doing poorly.

There is a midterm and a final. The final is essentially another midterm and is not cummulative meaning you only need to know information that was not tested on in the first midterm. The class is pretty easy in general if you pay attention in class and make time to once in a while listen to the music + go over your notes.

I know nothing of COGS 1 haha, but I have heard that it is pretty easy.
