What should my major be?

I will be a freshman at Lehigh University next year and was wondering about which major I should pick as a pre-med.

I have narrowed it down to my 3 greatest interests/strengths. I have also listed possible advantages/disadvantages

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Finance

Advantages: Great backup if I dont get into med school, helps with future investing/business related things, helps if I ever plan on having a private practice, business knowledge is a great thing to have regardless of what career you have

Disadvantages: Medium difficulty compared to majoring in Biochem/microbio/chem etc, probably more difficult than most business programs at other schools (Lehigh has a strong business program)

International Relations

Advantages: I currently know a lot about other countries, international politics, etc, strong interest in it, generally considered to be an easy major = better grades in premed classes?

Disadvantages: Useless if I dont get into med school

Psychology

Advantages: Easy, fairly interested, major covers a few premed reqs (less classes = more time to focus on premed classes)

Disadvantages: Highest unemployment rate among all college majors, completely useless if I dont get into med school.

anyone?

Majors don’t matter for med school, it’s most important to study what you are passionate about. If it were me, I would pick between the International Relations and Finance major.

However, if you pick the finance major, and really like business/investment banking a lot, you have to remember that, you will not be rich as a doctor. The only rich feeling you will have as a doctor is in your heart about the difference your making in saving people’s lives.
