Damn. When I saw that I had posted in this thread I thought “I remember posting in this thread A LONG time ago”. Ha ha. Two years ago in fact.

You should also consider having multiple ways of backing up. I use a 2 GB Dropbox account to access files online. Never know when you might misplace your USB or it could be corrupted. Save files in multiple locations. You might find it will save you later on!

You don’t really need physical memory anymore with the cloud. You can basically find a way to store anything in virtual space accessible anywhere with an internet connection. I would suggest dropbox.com.

You honestly don’t need one if your campus internet is at least somewhat reliable. Use Dropbox as the 2 above posters have stated.

Install Dropbox onto your phone + all your computers then you will have your files everywhere.

Another nice thing about Dropbox is that there are multiple versions of saved files. This was critical to me when I needed an older version of a document that I had edited. Went back, looked at the history of the saved document - and aha - there it was!

I have a 2tb external

Do you store your 2 TB external drive away from your desk? What would happen if you have a fire, a flood, a theft of your computer and accessories?

Probably the safer option would be to have two of these drives and save one in off-site storage.

Plus a nice cloud based storage option as another line of backup.

clouds are nice but sometimes time is of the essence and plugging in a USB drive is a lot faster than logging on to a website.

and I certainly wouldn’t try backing up my HD to a cloud. some docs sure but my music alone is about 20GB and my uh… adult entertainment about 80GB (it’s not that much, they’re just all in HD lol). i can’t imagine how long it’d take to upload that.

Post of the year.

Completely forgot I made this topic haha Two whole years ago.

^Ha ha yeah. This is the first revived long dead thread that I had posted in when it was first around so I’m fine with it.

I got myself 16GB, but only because I tend to transfer a ton of video/hd files.

Got an 8GB for college (going into Political Science so nothing in the way of heavy video editing or gaming) – and it should suffice. I’m also going to make use of Google Drive as well and possibly DropBox.
