What Subject Test Should I Take?

I took the US History and Bio E in May. Got a 780 on US History, not sending bio. I’m looking to go to school for finance. What other subject test should I take? I was thinking math 2, but any suggestions?

Definitely Math 2! If you have any iffy grades in a math class or your SAT 1 math, it’s a good way to show proficiency in basic concepts. It’s kind of the go-to for STEM majors, and it’s probably more relevant to finance than any of the other subject tests. It’s also relatively easy to get an 800, if that helps. (As of last year, the cutoff for 800 was around an 81%).

Math 2 is a must for finance. Business-oriented schools also look for rigorous logical skills, so SAT II Physics is a great way to demonstrate your competency.

*make that 81st percentile. oops :stuck_out_tongue:

Note that if an 800 is 81 percentile, that doesn’t mean it’s “easy”… The kids taking the math 2 subject test are the kids applying to the very top schools. So you’re competing against the cream of the crop.

@thshadow Well, I did say “relatively”… all of the subject tests are competitive, but with several of them you have to be in the 96-99th percentile in order to get the same score. Math 2 is by far the most popular subject test, and I’d argue that you probably get a lot of people taking it because advanced class are not necessary to know the material well (unlike Lit, Bio, Chem, etc. which are generally taken by AP Lit, Bio, and Chem students respectively). When you get a bunch of non-AP students taking the Math 2 test, it pushes the more advanced kids up the curve.

Not that it’s relevant or anything :stuck_out_tongue: Without more stats it’s all just conjecture, and the apparent “easiness” of a subject test should not be the motivating reason to take it anyway.
