sarorah -- i don't think they'll leave you in the dark but who knows? i'm definitely not one to know...i'm new to all of this!

columbia summer program? isn't that a bunch of money? personally, if there's any program that costs too much money, i feel that i can do something just as productive at home. but that's just my opinion, don't bash me for it.

hey i just got a confirmation that Cornell Nanobiotechnology Summer Int. Prog. got my application. so far i've gotten confirmation from nasa, yess and cornell but no rejects yet. sigh just more waiting.

Just now? I got that confirmation on Thursday 3/3. And I sent my application overnight on Sunday, which was Feb 28 I think. DId you send your application late?

no, i sent it march 1st 7pm through the post office. that's odd. the e-mail was sent exactly 3.5 hours ago. maybe they just didn't like my app and left the really bad "we got your app" e-mails for last. =

I just received mine too. But I doubt they've really evaluated whose essays were better yet.

phew atleast i'm not the only one.

calendar:
March 20ish or later - NASA sharp interviews?
March 31 - RSI decisions
April 1 - WTP decisions
April 30ish - Cornell Nanobiotech decisions
May 10 - YSP decisions
YESS? no idea, anyone know?
CTD -- doesn't matter, apps aren't due til May 15...

i'd also like to know when the caltech yess results are in.

and

what (in your opinion) are the top 5 (in order) science summer programs for a sophmore?

Top 5: RSI is always top. However, beyond that, you'll have to use some subjective factors like those in the US News rankings. Do you want a science program that sends alumni to Intel/Siemens? If so, SSP isn't great but a less famous one that sends many alumni to Intel/Siemens is.

i think rahrah asked for a sophomore though. And RSI isn't really open to sophomores except incredibly brilliant and bright ones. i dunno bout the others though.

i have no idea for a sophomore, i didn't apply anywhere last year. Nasa sharp is open to sophomores so i think that'd be a good program.

did anyone get an e-mail from NBTC HS Internship to send their transcript in? I'm on spring break so the school's closed...which is a problem...

Bah - it sucks to be a sophomore. All of the programs are insanely competitive for us and prefer juniors. Out of the 45 applicants SSP has accepted so far, only 2 are sophomores! NASA SHARP and YESS will be even more competitive for them. And we've basically outgrown CTY and its type too.

simfish, I didn't get the transcript letter either. Oh well..it was really competitive anyway. I mean..only 7 people chosen..it was a long shot.

maybe you guys just didn't get the e-mail yet? =

I dunno..maybe. Congrats though wishful_thinker :)

aww don't congrat me yet =\, i'm just so nervous.

Hopefully you'll do well. Chill :)
I got accepted into a progarm at JHU, so this isn't too bad.
My classes on the NBTC application were really bad..it's too bad not much is offered around here. I try to do other things offered outside the school/area, but there's only so much you can do.

yea i had alot of tech classes b/c i'm in the enigneering program and i took 2 yrs of autocad (officially called drafting and design)

I had some biotechnology experience at JHU in 2003, but I didn't do much on the technology part. Looks like you've done the opposite though, right?
