O_O This is a revelation for me.

It actually was for me too mulberrypie…but then on CC I read that the scores are only considered after admission or only glanced at during the admissions process to make sure there’s not too much grade inflation…5s still probably look better than 1s or 2s though.

I guess they’re just used for placement and credit then shrug :p

Do any colleges require you to report the scores? And so… you have nothing to lose except money when taking an AP exam??

EDIT: Oh wow and I’ve been on here for a year and never knew XD Thanks tsubomi, you’re always so helpful :D

on college apps, there is a place to report ap scores, they are self reported, it is a great addition to your app if you have good scores!!! guy from college fair said it’s impressive to see 5s

you don’t actually send the official ap score reports to the college unless you decide to go there

tell me on fb what you got!

^wait, who ru talking to?? who ru??

Jteh, I haven’t taken any yet. :)

Surprise!

Yeah, scores on your app are all self-reported. You only have to send AP scores to the college you’re attending for credit and/or placement.

It’s still smart to self report. Putting anything down is better than not taking the test.

Well if you put down a college for the college of choice then they’ll see the scores lol.

Squadus, that’s not what he meant. He meant that most colleges make their decisions before AP scores are even released anywhere.

Edit: Someone was talking about self-report, not sure what you mean. I think they were talking about the actual college application. Could you just put down a number without even taking the exam in the first place?

You shouldn’t, obviously.

If you take AP tests before applying to colleges and know your scores, you may want to include them on your application – you self-report them. Some applications have a specific place to do this, but my understanding is that most do not, so you would list AP tests taken and the scores you got under Supplemental Information or similarly-named section of the application.

Example: kid takes two AP exams in 10th grade and two in 11th grade, and will take four more (!) as a senior. Kid applies to college in September of 12th grade, and lists the four completed AP exams and their scores on his app. By the time he takes AP exams his senior year, he knows which college he will be attending, so has the AP score report sent to that college so that he gets credit/placement for his excellent AP scores.

If colleges find out you lied ANYWHERE on your application, then they can kick you out/take away your credit/degrees… So it’s better not to lie when self reporting, if anything, leave blank… don’t lie :P

The Common Application has a section where AP scores are self reported.

Gotcha on the self report. I guess we can leave the score part blank but put in the exams we’ll be taking. At least that’s what Princeton allows. Check with your college.

And thanks for the reply. :)

But its the same with the APs you took junior year as well, correct?
And btw, I’mma girl :P
