What the Fudge!?

Anyway, I have an interesting query:

So, I was accepted RD to Carolina and swiftly paid the $100.00 deposit for admission. Since then, I've been able to make an ONYEN and have gotten an invitation to Carolina Bound. This week, I got an interesting letter:

"Dear Blair:

Welcome to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! Your exemplary achievement has earned you a seat in the classrooms of one of the world's best reserach universities. On behalf of our faculty, students and staff, I extend my sincere invitation to join our campus community."

And then blah blah blah...you know the rest about Holden Thorp's comments.

But, this worries me a bit. Have they not received my deposit? I paid over the internet, so I don't see how it would be lost or unreceived. Also, I don't know if other people got Honors letters yet, but I don't think this is it.

Any comments? Help is much appreciated!

Blair,

A lot of times they send out those letters by default. (For instance, I’ve already sent my “not enrolling” card to Duke but they keep sending recruitment letters.) Neither making an ONYEN nor being invited to Carolina Bound means they received your payment - those things are available for all acceptees (in fact, anyone with an active file on the UNC system can make an ONYEN, regardless of being accepted or not).
A surefire way to check would be to log in to Applicant Central: https://s4.its.unc.edu/sis/browser/appl_pass.html</a>.
If you see the logo for CTOPS/Orientation on your screen, go ahead and register LOL. The Orientation logo means they’ve received your deposit. If it’s NOT on there, I would call the Registrar office to make sure the transaction went through.
Also, don’t forget to send in your medical records via the Applicant Central forms

Best wishes!

Check the date on your letter. A lot of times the letters are sent much later than they are dated. Up to a month in fact. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Thanks! And jen, those options were also available to me previously, which I failed to mention. :)

:( :frowning:
I just logged into applicantcentral and didn’t see the button for CTOPS… a week or 2 ago I confirmed that I would be enrolling next year, but I selected the defer enrollment deposit b/c I’m receiving financial aid choice… When am I supposed to register for CTOPS if my enrollment deposit has been deferred???

One of my friends is having this same issue. I have posted a question on the UNC Admissions Blog and am awaiting a response. They are very good about answering promptly - I will follow up with the answer.
Here’s the link to the question stream: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=4235822278413094178&postID=2188414150750870834&isPopup=true</a></p>

i emailed them about it last night, this is what they said…

"Good morning Joseph!

The Carolina Orientation double Tarheel icon will only appear once your
enrollment deposit has been received and processed by the Cashier’s
office. This process can take 2-3 weeks to complete. The same goes if
you defer your deposit. The process is still the same. If it has been
more than 21 days since you returned your enrollment form, regardless of
deferment status, and you still cannot see the icon for CTOPS, please
contact the Cashier’s office at (919) 962-1368. Please let us know if
you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you,
