What the Heck, FAFSA?

Is it just me, or is the FAFSA site confusing and laid out horribly? Why can't it be more streamlined like the CSS Profile.

Where do I even go to apply? Is there an online application sheet? The site does not help with explaining how to do anything, and the PDF guide is a dense 30 pages of nothing.

Make sure you’re on the right site. If you are you click the big button that says start here. Pretty easy stuff.

[Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

It is actually a very easy form to fill out. It is best to do it online.

Ditto - way easier than the Profile website. Click on the big orange button that says Start Here in the middle of the page.

The pdf instructions are VERY helpful to have when you’re actually filling out the FAFSA online…though this year they have little sidebar explanations as well. Just refer to the instructions if you get stuck on how to answer a question like how many in household or what untaxed income should be included.

If you feel the Profile is easier (which I actually can’t even imagine)…just complete that first. You will have ALL the information you need to complete the FAFSA (and then some). Once you complete the Profile, the FAFSA should seem like a walk in the park.

I actually thought this year’s was much better than previously . . .
