For all the people who know Yale, please make a list of what Yale prefers in its applicants, and what things impress them more. Thank U.

Why is this in the Yale 2009 forum? And what do you mean by "people who know Yale"? Trust me...no one can tell you the sort of thing you are looking for except for an admissions officer, and Yale admissions officers do not post here.

Then what do you think that impress the most in an application? The SAT or the GPA? Extracurricular activities?

Top tier, highly selective schools lilke Yale will look for a variety of things.

1) Do you have superior academic skills and ambition? This is shown through your transcript (do you choose the hardest classes? How well do you do in those classes?). Your scores will confirm (most often) what your transcript shows. Even if your high school doesn't offer many advanced courses -- did you attend the local college for harder classes? What efforts have you made? This will indicate if you really enjoy learning or not.
2) Are you involved in things beyond academics? At school? At work? In the community? In organizations? Do you do anything just because you're passionate about it?
3) Your teacher and guidance counselor recommendations will tell a lot about you. Choose people who know the quality of your work as well as you as a person in school.
4) personal statements: these allow a lot of latitude. Tell Yale about yourself.

You might want to repost your original post on the general Yale forum:

Hope this helps
