For those of you guys who've already been to the ones over the last few weeks, at what time of the day did registration and the overall orientation program end on the final day? I have to take a plane back home, and I have to get to the airport by around 12 or 12:30 at the latest (better if earlier). Would we be allowed to leave before then?

Registration started at 11 am and I was done by 11:05.

You don’t even have to be on campus to register. As long as you have a laptop/internet access you can register from the airport

So are we allowed to just leave whenever we are done registering?

There isn’t any free Wi-Fi at the airport.

you can leave whenever you want on wednesday… hell you could probably leave on tuesday after you meet your counselor if you wanted and nobody would notice.

Yup, pretty much

As long as you have no registration bars, you should be good to leave. Make sure you attend the required sessions.

I don’t see why you would want to leave, though. There is a lot of useful information to be gained at orientation, and it’s just fun in general.

They say that if you don’t go to all the wing meetings (they do take attendance), you’ll have bars and won’t be able to register. But that might just be an idle threat to keep people from not participating in the crowded, drunken rah-rah fest that is UT orientation.

Crowded, yes. But it’s only drunken if you go looking for it to be drunken.

True. It’s what you make of it. I went to orientation not expecting to have a lot of fun or meet anyone so I didn’t. If you’re less socially inept than I am you could really get something out of all the programs and meetings they organize.

Haha I maintain that you can have fun and get plenty out of the organized programs. It’s just a matter of what you think fun is!

Not sure if serious?

I’m serious, haha. Actually, I can see how a lot of the information would be useless (like all the alcohol/party/rape stuff that we’ve already learned 20 times), but I still had a good time either way.

You will if you are able to check out early enough. Registration for classes begins at 11:00. If you have a laptop and have no problems, registration can take about 10 minutes max. It took me forever to check out of Jester, because the fire alarm went off and they shut down the entire building. Then it took over 20 minutes to catch an elevator down to the first floor. I eventually had to take an up elevator in order to get down. My advice: have everything packed and run back to Jester or bring it with you to registration.
