What to bring to Boarding School

Oh, I know! I admire people who run and I certainly believe that it is an accomplishment. I guess it's kind of like pushing yourself to go further in anything. The appeal of running is just something I don't understand. That certainly doesn't mean that it's not a worthy pursuit. It just means that I don't "get" it.

(I love the image of the pitchfork. My husband went through a running "phase" and always tried to get me to go with him. I told him that he'd have to run behind me with a scary mask.)

Yeah I don't get a runners high I just pass out and die :)
(it rhymes)

Haha, our soccer coach (the track coach, too) does that for the soccer conditioning. I laugh at them while we do wall-sits outside our gym for volleyball. My coach is great, though. He is the subject of the essay I wrote... Because he trusted me :)

Is it good?

HaHa, Jasmyn! Me too.

And didn't Pheidippides drop dead right after he announced to the Anthenians that the Persians had been defeated at Marathon?

Yeah I think so

Was what good? The essay? I thought so. I love writing.

Lol how is your soccer coach the track coach either? Is soccer played in the fall where you live?

Yeah we play soccer in the fall too

Yeah, soccer/volleyball/football/cross country in the fall (thats not it, just principal).
Basketball/junior high volleyball/wrestling/bowling in the winter.
Track/baseball/softball/golf in the spring.
We don't have much opportunity to expand our horizons... I'm lucky volleyball is a REALLy big sport at my school (many state titles, dedicated coaches, we've gone to States like 10 years in a row... I consider myself blessed!)

our volleyball isn't very good and our football went 0-10 (or however many games they played you lose track) which is really embarrassing cause it's Texas and Texas is like the football state. But our girls basketball team is REALLY good.

Our basketball is okay. I don't play, so I care a little less.

the girl's basketball team is a beast. they play like boys, not a good thing. boys are a$$holes in sports, to aggressive, to to aggressive. this boy shoved me out of the way today in volleyball because he thought i wouldnt get it. i was going to get it. that just ****ed me off, then i had a friend yell at him

football team went to state this year, i think

our soccer team rocks, havent lost a game yet this year, i think

If offered the choice to live either with a roomate or in a single what would you all choose?

Personally, I would select a single. You are living inches away from others anyway. I would like to have my own space, just all alone to myself in case I am feeling depressed or something... idk, when living in a double you can never get some free time alone. Sometimes you just need to be alone

Please do not bring anything that plugs in until you have checked with the school.

Local fire marshals can be quite strict and even hostile, particularly in rural areas.

Prohibited list from one school

"Smoke, use of open flame, candle or incense
multiple outlet adapters
extension cords
anything that hangs from the sprinkler pipes
fireworks
matches,
lighters
cloth wall, curtain or ceiling hangings, including shirts, hats and banners
cooking or heating appliances including popcorn poppers, immersion heaters, toasters or microwaves
dry floral arrangements
electric blankets
foam padding, including foam mattress pads
halogen or other high intensity lamps
lava lamps
irons
soldering irons
propane torches
paper or posters on either side of a door
plastic, straw, shag or rubber-backed floor coverings
plastic, vinyl, or inflated furniture
upholstered, stuffed or beanbag chairs
wicker furniture
strings of decorative lights or lighted signs
clip-on lamps
any other item that in the opinion of the fire marshal constitutes a fire hazard."

And before you start whining - these rules are for your safety; you don't have a "right" to a lava lamp or refrigorator. You are a guest of the school; you stay at thier pleasure. If you break the rules, particularly in the area of safety, you'll be gone in 24 hours. If you don't like the rules, don't come.

I totally understand the rules, and the only one I would even come close to breaking is that I'd bring a hair straightening iron, which all of my tour guides said were "allowed, kinda". Haha.

I may have the choice of single or double if I go to Choate, since the new 10th grade dorms are mostly singles. I want a double because it'd be like an automatic best friend, kind of, but I'm also a bit quirky in my living habits. I don't even know!

I'm a vegetarian too!! YAAY!

I wish i was a vegetarian but I'm from Texas and I love hamburgers, steak, and barbecue ( i hate chicken and fish though) I try to eat meat the least i can but I love it

i loveee meat but im a vegetarian. i love animals toooo much. well, im a pescatarian. i cant live without shrimp!!
