Ok, so I have been totally procrastinating. Does anybody have a list on what to bring/buy? I have about a week.

This was a good starting point for us, along with the list St Andrew's sent.

You can read the whole thread for more ideas, but that poster got most of them. :)

Yes, that was a good list. Post 602 on that thread also has some additional items.

thats alot to read, but ok

check the last page. i made a mega list of everything i saw on the thread. it may have a few repeats, but... also some schools don't allow stuff on it (like exeter and flat irons) but its like five pages long on computer paper. but i totahly suggest The Ultimate Supply List for Boarding School

doesnt it depend on what school you go to?

not really. only prohibited items. like fridges. or furniture. or hair straightners. i mean, of course space is an issue, but its like that at every school

hair straighteners, really?

that must make dolling up cumbersome.
lol

ok, here’s my list. just paste it into word, delete everything you don’t need, and save it. then go through again, delete everything you HAVE, and save it as something different. there’s your shopping list!

^ How will you fit all of that in your suitcase? Are you mailing it or are you driving there in a van or something?

It says you can’t have straightening irons but does that mean like you can’t use them in the room or you can’t have them at all? I can understand not using them in the room because you might set it down and burn the whole room up but can we at least use them in the bathrooms? If we can’t I honestly have no idea what I’m going to do.

I would just bring it anyway. If it ends up being a big deal you can just stow it away, but so many girls rely on them I’d be surprised if people actually didn’t bring them. Bring it, ask one of the older girls what the rule actually means and if people pay attention to it, then either ignore the rule or put the straightening iron away.

Tiger-
I will be driving down in my mom’s SUV. my school is just under an hour away, so transporting things isn’t really a problem.

I know this is about packing but from the post above I wanted to know do kids who live alot of hours away such as 24 do they fly or drive.

^ I live 17 hours away and we’re going to fly there. My parents really don’t have the time to drive me all the way up there and come back. Plus, it’s a big hassle.

Exeter doesn’t allow flat irons? Weird…

I live like 30 hours away, and I’m flying.

Although, my dad had this crazy idea that we should do this cross country drive and end up there. Yikes, I do not like driving!
